Amsterdam Law Trials is a moot court competition between the third year honours bachelor students of the four Amsterdam honours law tracks:
– Amsterdam Honours College of Law (UvA)
– VU Honours Programme (VU Amsterdam)
– Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE)
– Amsterdam University College (AUC)
The participants work as lawyers (in teams) or as judges (in panels) on civil matters and are coached by alumni, top lawyers representing the diversity of the Amsterdam Bar and judges from the District Court of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
Students receive academic credits for participation, as arranged for in each track (total course load of 3 EC). Boom Juridische Uitgevers awards EUR 1500 for each member of the winning lawyer team and the winning judge (total of four prizes) to be paid towards LLM tuition fees. Bar and bench may offer internships (or job opportunities).
